I arrived at about 125 pm for a 130 pm appointment, had to wait roughly 45 minutes before being called. I was asked to step on the scale, and my weight was recorded, and then I was led to an exam room. The nurse took my oxygen saturation and blood pressure (bp). My bp was high, and I commented it was unusually high, though I felt no typical side affects. The nurse took a 2nd bp reading, which was almost identical. We did a quick review of my meds, and asked what pharmacy I use. Then the nurse left after telling me that Dr Patel was with another patient. I use a portable oxygen machine which was fully charged when I arrived, and I lost more the half the charge before Dr Patel arrived. I was also experiencing problems with my portable device. Dr Patel offered an in-office oxygen bottle, which eliminated that problem. We discussed my recent CT scan of lungs. He offered to show me the scan results. The scan showed that most of my lungs are damaged beyond use. He also showed a nodule of concern. He suggested he will order a PET scan to focus on the nodule. He said he will also order blood work. He wants another appointment in 4-6 weeks. He was going to write a prescription for an antibiotic to help deal with the exacerbation of my bronchiectasis. I need to call the office and set the next appointment and find out about the antibiotics and PET scan. I felt the wait time was too long for a person on oxygen.
